Cardiff Blues’ Bradley Davies arrested in fight outside pub – Rugby update
Bradley Davies, the lock for Cardiff Blues and the Wales national side, has been arrested due to a fight that took place in the parking area of Pembrokeshire pub.
Davies was not the only one who was involved in the incident, as reports confirm that one more person with him has been arrested by the local police. The fight was a large brawl and had almost 30 people involved in it.
The usage of glass and bottles was also reported by the local police. The details of what actually happened and why, are still unconfirmed by the police and other officials. A good number of injuries were reported and the involvement of Davies has been confirmed.
He has been arrested, but his chances of being bailed out are high. According to a local policeman, “A number of men and women were allegedly assaulted, sustaining cuts and bruises to the face during the incident, which occurred at approximately 9.55pm.”
Bradley Davies is a Welsh rugby union player, who also shows up in Magners League for Cardiff Blues. The 24-year-old lock is son of Bleddyn Davies, who was a lock himself for Pontypridd. Davies plays at second row and has earned 46 caps for Cardiff Blues
and scored five points. While he earned 22 caps for his national side in his international career that started in 2008. He played his debut against Scotland in the Six Nations where he came in as a replacement for Shane Williams.
This incident will change a lot regarding his reputation and his inclusion in the squad for 2011 Rugby World Cup. An official from Cardiff Blues said, “It is inappropriate to comment while police carry out their investigations.”
One of the official statements that came forward after this incident was from the local police officer who said, "Officers from across Pembrokeshire attended the incident and after the crowd dispersed police maintained a high profile presence in the town
to ensure public safety and prevent any further escalation of trouble."
With the World Cup only three months away this could be a major incident. Davies is an important player and his replacement would be difficult to find, as he has shown up in all the fixtures for Wales since his debut. Blues will be hoping that he will be
freed before the training camps initiate. The major issue for the squad is the amount of on-field injuries, due to which a few players are already missing. The absence of anyone else is an issue in itself.
Cardiff Blues stood at second position in pool 1 with 3 wins and 3 losses and 14 points in the bag. Davies' contribution in this has been evident and the important player may have to answer to management about his actions.
