Cardiff Blues’ boss David Young says farewell to Loxton, Davies, White and Griffiths
Cardiff Blues has somehow affirmed that quartet James Loxton, Tom Davies, Ben White and Bryn Griffiths will be leaving this region as the Super rugby season ends this year. All of these players have quite a history with Blues and the reasons behind the departure
of these players are still quite blurry.
Ben White, the Wallabies flanker, who was signed by Cardiff Blues through St. Edmunds College in Canberra in 2006, was previously a player for ACT Brumbies. Since then, white has contributed six crucial tries and fifty appearances for Blues. On the contrary,
he didn’t get enough time in the starting line-up and has been limited to second half replacements. Induction of Sam Warburton was a major reason for him not being the preferred open side attack.
Byrn Griffiths and Tom Davies both made an entry in Cardiff Blues after being transferred from Doncaster RFC in the 2010 season and have made appearances in six fixtures. On the other hand, James Loxton, the Blues young wing and utility back is a pure Cardiff
Blues property, as he hails from Trefforest Blues Academy. He was inducted in the squad in 2009 and made his debut in Ravenhill against Ulster.
Cardiff Blues’ boss, David Young gave a positive good bye statement, but didn’t mention real reason behind the sudden decisions of the four players.
Talking to the media Young stated, “I would like to thank all the players for their efforts and dedication at the Blues.”
The word of this happening was around, but no one could guess that it would come out in front prior to the season conclusion. Young has given a good farewell and kept no hard feelings for the players and wished them good luck for their future ventures.
He added, “Most of these players were signed to give us strength in depth, which is a luxury we can't afford to have with the cut in our budget, but I would like to wish them the best of luck with their future careers.”
