Cardiff Blues battle past Aironi by a huge margin of 38-0 in RaboDirect PRO12 clash played on November 24, at Cardiff City Stadium. Four tries and superb defence in both halves helped them to an impressive victory over the rivals. Aironi, missed a numbers
of Welsh international players from the encounter, cut a sorry figure in the match as they were left with no points. Aironi missed quite a few opportunities, their passing remained poor and the team work was sparse.
During the clash, Cardiff Blues, looked motivated from the start and made some desperate attacks in the early minutes. They remained successful in stealing the initial lead over Aironi as Dan Parks kicked two well directed penalty goals in the first 10 minutes
for Blues. Meanwhile, Blues kept the thing very tight in their defending areas and did not show any weakness to the rivals. They kept the Aironi players busy in the midfield and thus reduced the chances of conceding any points in the first half.
Parks expanded his team’s lead to 12-0 as he scored two more three pointers in last six minutes of the first half. He was the only scorer from both sides with 12 individual points to his name.
Cardiff Blues started off the second half confidently as they were well ahead of opponents with a handsome lead of 12-0. Casey Daniel Eti Laulala, who started off from the benches just before the end of first half, boosted his side with a well executed try,
immediately after the break. Dafydd Hewitt repeated the same for Blues in the 59th minute and increased the total to 22-0.
Two more tries from Tom James and Marc Breeze in the 63rd and 65th minute made the lead unreachable for Aironi. When the final whistle came from referee Leo Colgan, Blues were leading with 38-0.
