Cardiff Blues signs Ryan Tyrrell, Marc Breeze and Jamie Corsi to add depth to back row forwards – Rugby News
Welsh professional Rugby Union club, Cardiff Blues, has announced three signings to add depth to their front row for their domestic and European competitions. The news signing includes the
likes of the Australian Super Rugby franchise player, Ryan Tyrrell from Western Force.
Officials at the club have confirmed the signing of the trio in a statement released on their website on Thursday, October 20. Besides Tyrrell, Blues have also secured the services of the Marc
Breeze and Jamie Corsi.
The addition of front row options has definitely brought life to the Cardiff Blues depleted front row resources. Earlier in the season, Blues lost both Gareth Williams and T Rhys Thomas. Williams
suffered from a career ending neck injury, while Thomas is sidelined from the action due to a knee injury. The surgery on his knee and its subsequent rehabilitation has ruled the player out of Blues season’s campaign for the year.
Both Tyrrell and Breeze play at the hooker position, while Corsi plays at the prop position.
The 27-year-old Tyrrell has joined Blues from the Western Force. He made his Super Rugby debut in 2010, where he played four consecutive games for the Force before sustaining a career threatening
neck injury. He made his comeback to the rugby during Force's 2011 pre season preparation game.
Tyrrell has expressed his excitement about playing and competing with players of the Northern Hemisphere. He termed the Blues training facilities as similar to the Western Force’s training
facilities. He added, “I've been very impressed with the facilities and that was a massive decision in me hoping to sign. Just seeing the facilities and how the players react to it makes you want to be part of it.”
Tyrell has thanked both players and coaching staff for playing their roles which helped him a great deal in adjusting to the new conditions. He said, “Everyone been very responsive in helping
me settle in, which has been great, and it almost feels like home away from home already.”
Additionally, Marc Breeze, has switched to Blues from Aberavon RFC. He started his career in the back row forwards position and later developed his game as hooker under supervision of Wales'
international hooker, Garin Jenkins.
Meanwhile prop Corsi has represented Wales at the junior levels.  Recently, he has been playing his rugby in New Zealand.
The addition of trio has added definite depth to the Blues’ squad.
