Cardiff Blues thump Racing Metro 26-20 in Heineken Cup clash - Rugby News
Cardiff Blues overpowered the Racing Metro by a handsome margin of 26-20 in the current Heineken Cup 2011, on November 11, at Colombes. Dan Parks played a vital role in Blues’ victory as he elevated his side with 16 individual points with the help of four
penalties and two conversion goals. Gaetan Germain was also impressive for Metro but could not save his team from a total collapse. He hailed his unit with 12 points but lacked the proper team support in the end. Cardiff Blues grabbed two tries in the match
whereas Metro could score just one.
Racing Metro looked motivated in the beginning and created some real opportunities to dominate the rivals. They were well in front of Blues with a handy lead of 6-0 just after seven minutes of play. However, a well executed try from Tau Filise proved devastating
for them as the Blues eliminated their lead in the 13th minute.
Yet again, Germain helped them to make a comeback in the game with another three pointer and retained the lead. On the hand, Dan Parks displayed a tremendous foot work for Blues and guided his team to a slight escort of 17-4 at break.
The second part of the game remained in total control of Blues, which enhanced their score to 26-17 with 10 minutes remaining in the final whistle. Racing Metro added only three points to their previous score after the break and let the Blues surpass them
in comfortable manner.
