Cardinals' Coach Ken Whisenhunt confused between Kevin Kolb and John Skelton – NFL News
Apparently you could start with one quarterback at a time, and Arizona Cardinals Coach Ken Whisenhunt has to make a tough call when he announces his team that will play against Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.
While playing his cards close to his chest on Wednesday, the coach refrained from informing whether Kevin Kolb or John Skelton will start.
Kolb is a regular starter for the Cardinals, but his injuries have allowed Skelton to replace him many times in the season. Kolb has started nine games, whereas Skelton has started five while playing six games this season.
Kolb, who suffered concussion soon after recovering from injury, is still not hundred per cent fit. This might provide an opportunity for Skelton to start once again, but the coach said that he would monitor the players’ performance
on Thursday. However, he did not confirm when he would announce the team.
The Cardinals have won seven games this season and are still in a hope of reaching the postseason. They are not yet eliminated from the playoff-race, but their chances are very dull.
Even if the Cardinals do not reach the playoffs, Kolb wants his team to end the season on a positive note by winning rest of the games and play a role in the victory.
“I want to be on the field,” Kolb said. “I want to be talking about defenses and winning ball games. To have one of the better halves I have had and then be set back … it’s very frustrating. I’m not going to lie, but what are you
going to do.”
No matter who starts the game, the Cardinals are ready to give their best shot. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald said that the team supports both Kolb and Skelton and is comfortable playing with them.
“Either guy, I think we are comfortable with them, we have won with both of them,” he said. “Whoever is going to play for us, we will support him and give it all we got. That’s how we look at it.”
John Skelton also seems to have the same opinion as Larry. He was also of the view that it does not matter whether he or Kevin started the game. The team, he said, “will rally around either one of us.”
Meanwhile, the Cardinals have promoted right outside linebacker Sam Acho to active roster after placing veteran Joey Porter on injury reserves. Porter will not play any more game this season.
