Cardion AB Motoracing rider Karel Abraham extends deal with Ducati to 2012 season – MotoGP news
Cardion AB Motoracing rider Karel Abraham has received an extension in the deal with Ducati which will see him race with 1000cc prototypes in the 2012 season for the team.
It is also expected that Abraham can continue racing for the side in the 2013 season.
Abraham is the first Czech rider in premier class and is running in his rookie MotoGP season, along with the sole British rider Cal Crutchlow. Both rookies have shown promising performances in first six rounds of the 2011 season.
Abraham said, “I’m definitely very satisfied, there are some things in the contract we changed in comparison to this year which I’m very happy about. I think all these things will help me progress through MotoGP and have good results this year and next year
too.”
The Czech rider also said that he is keenly waiting to try the newly bred GP11.1 for the ongoing 2011 MotoGP season. It is not yet confirmed whether he can get aboard the GP11.1 or not but he definitely wants to test the 2012 Ducati prototype GP12.
Although the engine displacement has been increased, the chassis is totally revised for better performance. In total, the GP12 will have many changes in it. Apparently, the changes are not known to Abraham but as soon as he gets along the new machine, it
will be much easier for him to understand.
Abraham complimented the efforts of the veteran Valentino Rossi. He praised the fact that Rossi has given his time and experience to develop the new machine. He thinks that is a great vantage point for Ducati to have such an experienced rider with them.
Director for Ducati MotoGP project, Alessandro Cicognani said, “We're pleased to have renewed our agreement with Cardion AB Motoracing for next year, and in particular we're very happy to share with the team the path of improvement that Karel is following
in MotoGP. Karel is a young rider in his rookie MotoGP season, but he's gaining experience and demonstrating his talent race by race.”
Abraham has been trying to stay in the top ten places in the initial six events of the 2011 MotoGP season. Let’s see how he fares in the upcoming rounds of the campaign.
