  1. if the online casino uses automated software, then the answer is no.

But there are some that use live dealers. In these places, even though you play online, there is a real person, who is dealing real cards on the other end and you can see them through a web cam.

When they use a live dealer, you can card count.

  2. Card counting is all about seeing the cards dealt from the shoe in Blackjack.  You know what cards have been dealt, so you have an idea if the cards that remain are favorable to the house or to the player.

Most online casinos shuffle very frequently to avoid card counting and card counting software.

In terms of poker, that's a different ball game.  You can't count the cards, but certainly having a memory for any cards you've seen (like in stud games for example) will help you determine your odds of making your hand.  But they don't call it counting in poker.

Most poker tournaments these days are in Texas Hold'em, and generally the most cards you get to see is 7/52.

  3. Card counting in online casinos does not work. The deal at the majority of the online casinos for blackjack is similar to that of a continuous shuffler, and thus there is no running count or true count.

Here is a link to a card counting article that explains it. http://www.thedoverpro.com/blackjack/bla...

In poker, there is only one deck used. Depending on the poker game variation, you may see a lot of up cards, such as at 7 card stud. Knowing what cards are out and making a good guess as to what cards may be hole cards based on a player betting, I guess could be considered a form of card counting, certainly if you need a King to pair your hand, and you see three on the table, you know for sure you won't catch one, lol.

    Good luck!
