Care Packages for Poverty Stricken Children in other countries?

does anyone know of a website where you can get information and addresses for sending care packages to children in poverty stricken countries, packages like pens and pencils and paper for school or canned food anything? Any help at all would be great.

It may be more practical to just send money.  Then the organization can buy what they need most.
