Care for Zinnias?

2 of my zinnias died and i dont know why, anyone help to give me some info on how to care for zinnias

Just water them at the base every morning (if you live in a hot dry climate...less water if you get rain etc)  Cut off the dead blooms to promote more blooms.  You can also give them a mild garden fertilizer.

Not sure why yours died...if you had a picture of the dead one I could probably give you a couple ideas.
