This is a wonderful poem.  It brings to my mind a longing for a love.  Those "chances(for) laughing loudly" are lost to you now.  But there is hope renewed in the last two lines.  Be patient, your love will one day come to you.  Thank you.

How long we anticipate a meeting - getting all anxious and stuff. It comes - we act shy and clumsy - the time goes swiftly - too fast.
