  1. most aquariums built "in" walls have a room behind them for easy access, a tank like that in picture for instance must have a canopy opening of some such on the other side of the wall u cannot see for access to the top of the tank. they just took a picture of the side without the access area to make it look cleaner and nicer.

  2. Actually that perticular tank isn't that difficult to maintain.  (of course the deeper ones are the pain in the butt)

This tank is really no different than a large 350.  You care for them the same way you would a normal tank.  The pumps are either beneath the wall or at the solid side of the wall in a cabinet.  You vac and do water changes the same way, unless they are housing a resevoir beneath the tank.  This is where the water changes are done.

If they are reef tanks as shown, coraline algaes are not used neither are real corals or live rock most are man made.  This allows for minimal cleaning and a clear view of the fish.

The main problem with these tanks that are salt is the salt residues that get onto the drywall that boxes them in.  Usually they are boxed in with woods not drywalls.  The salt residue tends to eat joint compounds as well as peels paint.

As for the cleaning, mostly fingerprints!
