  1. You will be expected to run the mile and a half before you get to your training company. This will be during proccessing. While at your training company is when you will run the 3 mile. That will be for your PFT's and they will work you up to that. The other exercises you mentioned are above passing score.

I wasn't great at running either but I made it. They will work you up to being able to pass the PFT. For now just exercise and study your knowledge. I wish you the best of luck.

  2. No, you aren't required to do 3 miles upon arrival. PT is fairly easy the first week. You probably won't work up to 3 miles before second phase training. I don't know if women recurits do 3 miles. I can assure you male recruits will be doing 3 miles by the 3rd or 4th  week. They'll be doing it with relative ease. That's the easy part of becoming a Marine.

  3. They make you run well.

Train harder until you are "shipped off" to boot camp. Run a lot. Try to run 5 miles each day without stopping for breathers. Pace yourself, don't run fast, but go in a steady pace. Take deep and slow breaths. Also, make sure you can swim very well, and tread water very well.

The Marines look a LOT at endurance, so build it up. Do 42 pushups in less than a minute. Then, move instantly on to sit-ups/crunches, and do 40 of those in less than a minute. Try to do 15 pull-ups in the same day. Build your endurance, because you'll need it.

BTW: I believe that one of the physical req. for the Marines is running 3 miles in less than a certain amount of time. So train hard on running.

  4. Control your breathing.  Force yourself to breath slowly and deeply.

  5. They will basically make you run those 3-miles or ditch you back into a moto platoon where they will make sure you can run.  Then you'll have to start over from where you left off by being in another platoon.  If you cannot complete it still, you'll be packing your bags to go back home.
