Ok well i'm 18 years old and my husband is 25. I will be turning 19 in october. We have a 1 and a half year old boy.

I am going to college to study cosmetology, it is a 1600 hour course, i will be finished in about a year to a year and a half.

My husband now works as an A/C installer and has 6 years experience.

our plans are for me to finish school while he works.

after i finish school he wants to work and go to school while i work also, (he wants to study something to do with his job, something to help him get a license and start a business, HVAC or i'm not sure)

later after he finishes school i want to start school again and do business management... or anything that has to deal with running a business

we live in phoenix arizona

and are aware that this takes time

we were just wondering what would be best to go to school for to be able to start a business

for both him and me

i want to do something with cosmetology and he wants to do something with a/c but i am the one who will be running both managing both...

any advice?!?!?

thanks in advance

  1. Business Administration degree - get grounded in accounting, management and marketing.  The accounting will help you with the books, management with running the companies, and marketing with selling your companies to the public.

  2. Kudos to you for having such a great plan! My brother-in-law is in HVAC, and he makes really good money, even working for someone else. I agree with the other poster, studying Business Administration is a good idea. There are a number of reputable schools that will let you take courses online, like the University of Texas or Brigham Young University. You can take their classes, no matter where you live. Also don't overlook your local community college. You can get the first half of your degree very inexpensively there. You can take a few classes at a time while you are working.

You will also learn a lot about managing a salon (or a business in general) just by working there, if you keep your eyes open. If you have the opportunity to be an Assistant Manager, take it. It's a little more money, and excellent experience.
