K, so i have like always said that i wanted to be an attorney. And that really does interest me, i LOVE debating. But i have always had a desire for fashion. Like cutting hair, or making clothes, that type of thing. But when i brought it up to my dad, that i would love to be a Beautician. Like cutting and styling hair in a high end salon in New York er somewhere. Well any how, he got really mad. He said that there is no cosmetoligist that makes 100 thousand dollars a year. I dont wanna be the main bread winner in my home when i get married, but only do this as fun and something im good at, because i really am. How can i make a good argument that will tell him that i really would like to do this? This is the only time i have EVER not known how to argue my point. i have always been like bang and had a great argument. But i went blank when this came up. What do i do? I dont wanna make this be something that we argue about all the time.

  1. I have to Send you Good Luck Wishes..  I hear you and that is a tough one.  At the end of the day, it is your life path.  Not your father's.  A career you love might not make you rich.  But it will make you happy in the morning when you have to go there everyday.  You never know though, it might make you 100,000 a year.  If you have passion and talent in your career you will thrive mentally and financially.

      Good Luck to You!

  2. The most important thing you should do is keep your grades up, and volunteer for work experience so that whatever career you ultimately choose you will be ready.

  3. First of all it sounds like your about 14-15 years old.  Do you have ANY idea how many times you're going to change your mind before you find the right career for you, which may never happen.

My argument would be:  "Dad, I'm only ___ years old.  I really don't think this is a valid argument to be having right now.  What did you want to be when you were my age?"  I'm sure his answer is not the profession he has now.  haha
