Career Step Medical Transcription...?

If I take this program, what are my chances of finding a job online afterwards? I have a few years medical experience. Any advice for the program? I just want to know if it will be worth it or if I should go through another program. Thanks!

  1. Your changes aren't very good.

All online courses have the same outcome: No jobs.

Take courses at a community college instead.

With Career Step or similar schools, you might be able to get a job at at your local hospital or doctor's office, depending on how badly they need to hire someone. They would rather hire someone who went to a real college.

No one will hire you to work at home without at least 1 year of experience at a hospital -- usually 3-5 years of experience.

  2. I do know several transcriptionists who got work after going through Career Step. I recommend going through at least their Gold level program.

My own former employer, Medquist, hires graduates from there, last I checked.

Career Step is basically #3 of the top three online programs. The Andrews School and M-Tec are generally rated better, but Career Step is more affordable.
