Question:

Career choices for me?

I'm a junior in high school and am starting to think of careers I might want to do. I work as a vet tech and I like it so far, but I could never handle doing the surgeries, or the 8 years of school. I really love animals, and have even thought of becoming a lawyer for animals. I thought about opening my own animal shelter, but it's so hard. And, I've thought about becoming a teacher.

What are some good ideas that don't require a lot of school years, with animals, the environment, or math?

  1. Become a teacher and then volunteer with a shelter or breed specific rescue. You can help the environment by not littering and such. You can do all the things you enjoy just not wrapped into one. Most animal jobs (working at a petstore/shelter/etc.) will not pay a whole lot so I would look into something different.

  2. Lol, you sound just like me! I love it! I'm also having the same problems, but this is only my Freshman Year.

    Once we move, I plan on starting my own shelter, maybe once I turn 15 or 16, I can start a small adoption agency, then run a shelter.

    I've also considered being a lawyer, but I have a hard time sitting around pushing paper, I'm also horrid at math! And I HATE it too!

    For me, teaching doesn't pay enough, but I would consider, being a part time teacher for a big city, then doing another part time job such as an animal shelter.

  3. I too feel a lot for the well being of animals and all God's creation. You see I am an English tutor. I love animals read alot about them feed the hungry stray cats and have pet fishies at home. Do you know the body has an aura surrounding us all. Green is prominent in those who are loving and caring, also love to guide and teach others. You may like to be a volunteer at a zoo. Or be a zookeeper. I should think,you must do a lot of reading and watch the national geographic channel for knowledge. Then when you attend real vet schools things are easier for you. Like this, if you really like something and are fully determined everything becomes easy. Reluctance or a wrong attitude can make things difficult. But as practice makes perfect, go and do practical stuff with animals and you can eventually decide what you want to do in the future. Love and care makes you feel warm and fuzzy,horses and cats are my favourite animals. It is nice to here a young person so caring.

  4. work for habitat for humanity or for an animal shelter.

  5. Well there's like those animal cop people! lol, but hmm, there's also...

    Animal Training

    Animal Therapy, lol i think that's like physical therapy or something

    You could do some job at a zoo maybe,

    that's all i could come up with.

    This might help you--->>

  6. why not mix i t all?you could teach children about animals...maybe even suit for 2 jobs since u like it so much.you could open a shelter,work there and also hold a few classes!

  7. Work for an animal shelter. You can start out as an adoption specialist and then maybe move up to the adoptions manager, then maybe move up into more of a administrations job if you like that more vs. adoptions. =) I volunteer religiously at an animal shelter and get to do tons of things to help out there and basically work there over the summer and I enjoy it so much. It's work that I love to do though =) I'm at the same stage in my life, biologically, lol.
