  1. Do well in all of your school class work. Keep a high overall score on your grades. Study all the math you can manage; study physics, biology, chemistry, with a focus on how mechanical devices are made to work.  Electronics is an exciting area to want to build your career in but don't limit yourself to a two year degree in that field. Do the work and prepare to get your BSET or BSEE degree, or higher.

The bioelectronics engineering or biophyscis is a good place to do very interesting work and make good money too. Keep an eye on fields involving nano-technology, that's growing rapidly and demand is high.

You have a ways to go yet before you need to worry about what field to specialize in.  Do well at general science and mathematics, and physics (both classical and quantum). Read trade magazines and books on the subject; build and test electronic circuits and devices; take things apart and see what's inside, and how things work.

Take care of the basics first, and you'll make the right decisions when the time comes concerning career choices.
