I'm in High School and I'm looking at Pharmacy careers. First of all, I love science. But what is involved in a pharmacy career? Is it fun, or are you just staring at a computer screen all day?

I want to be a Pharmacist, NOT a Pharmacy Technician.

I have some questions about it, please try to answer all, or just answer all that you can. thanks in advance!

What is the yearly salary?

Do I need to take prerequisites before pharmacy school?

How long do I need to go to school, in grand total? (not including HS)

What courses are required?

Do I need a bachelors, masters, etc.?

Is pharm. school competitive to get in to?

Is it easy to find a job once graduating? (I graduate in 2012 from HS...)

What should I major in?

Do I go to college AND pharmacy school?

or can you just tell me everything you know about being a Pharmacist? lol

basically, is it fun, worth it? school? salary? what courses do I need to take in HS? what should I major in? i need info!

thanks!

  1. I was in the pharmacy field but i left it because it wasn't for me..

    1. you make more money doing retail then you do in clinic. Reason why its because  you work hourly, When i was fresh out of school. I made over a 100k, which i though was great but i had to work very long hours. It wasn't till later that i found out that a coworker who is also a pharmacist who had over ten years was only making 7 thousand more then. so its kinda sucks that your pretty much stuck around the same pay.

hopes this helps let me know if there's anything i can help you with

    2. talk with your guidance counselor I major in liberal arts before entering in pharmacy school.

    3. you do have to take PCAT its test kinda like the SAT. that you should submit to the school of your choice.

    4. Personally i didn't find pharmacy school competitive. so I couldn't help you there. I suggest that you do research of the school that you want to attend.

    5. It is very easy to find a job. in fact before your even done with school you will have people looking to hire.
