  1. SAP is Simple Access Protocol

i am now only studying it in subject

  2. SAP stands on top of a database, as do most of the ERP models. In my previous experience, the RDBMS of interest was DB2 on a mainframe. As a Java developer you can talk to the database with the same facility as developers in any other language (mostly COBOL types in my old universe). I manipulated data content in SAP repositories, using both APL and Java. The potential for employment is really more a function of what the employer elects as its primary execution language rather than its ERP base platform. I observe that more SAP shops use the older, transactional, mainframe languages, but (welcome to 21st century!), that's an option, not a requirement.

I would not recommend SAP to a (primarily) Java developer as a target to which to develop devoted skills (it's a tremendously over-normalized, and frequently evolving database), but, if an employer pays "enough" (fill in your rate here), what the heck.

  3. What is "SAP"?
