Ok, well i was thinking either to become an animal cruelty investigation, a zoo park management, or a veterinarian specialist.

Now my question is which one of these careers will make a difference to the world but at the same time put a smile on people's faces. I want one, so when i come home, I can be proud of what i did. Also if you do pick one, how long am i suppose to go for my higher education.

  1. By all means pick animal cruelty investigation because you don't need anything more than desire to start working in that field today!  You don't need any training, all you have to do is go to your local animal shelter and tell them you'd like to volunteer.  When they hear that you plan a career in animal cruelty investigation, they'll probably be so glad to have you that they'll give you training and experiences you'd normally have to be a graduate student to even qualify for.

Don't let the fact that you're a kid stop you.  It's actually your greatest asset because it makes you stand out, and people naturally want to help you succeed.  If you start now, you can already be an experienced animal cruelty investigator by the time you start college, and it'll look great on your resume.

  2. All three will make a difference in the world one way or another. The "smile on people's faces" can depend on what you're doing at your job and who you are working with. As for being proud of what you did, well, that's a personal issue. What makes you proud? What are your likes and dislikes? What makes you proud might not make another person doing the same job proud.

Length of college will vary on how high of a degree you want to pursue and the requirements of the job you want to get. Along with a degree you might also need to get specialized training and/or work in other areas before you get your job.

Research the different jobs. What educational background and training have people with that job had. What's the good and bad of the jobs. What experience is needed.

Research colleges. What degrees are offered. Take a look at the course descriptions. Do they offer any specialized areas.

Talk to you career counselor at school for some advise. Mine gave me advise on volunteer opportunities in my area, colleges, and possible jobs.

You might want to try to get some experience with the jobs you are thinking about.

*Volunteer at a SPCA, Humane Society, or other Animal Protection Organization.

*See about interning/volunteering at a zoo. Go to a zoo camp.

*Work/volunteer at a vet clinic. Go to a vet camp.

animal cruelty investigation- probably won't be smiles on the people you're investigating. You'll probably feel dismayed/upset about some of the animals conditions but good about getting the animal out of the situation or good that the owner listened to you and improved his animal's care. You'll probably feel sad when and animal has to be euthanized but good when good when one goes to a good home.

zoo park management- (I'm not sure if what zoo job you are talking about. There are a few different management positions at a zoo.)  You might have to be a zookeeper for awhile before you get a management position. Breeding programs can make you feel good that you are increasing the population of an endangered species and excited/happy that there's a new baby at the zoo. You might be sad when an animal has to leave the zoo or dies. Good about educating the public about the animals, your job, conservation and things they can do to help.

veterinarian specialist- (What did you want to specialize in? A specialized vet job: medical, surgical, dental. Specialized care: pets, exotic pets, farm animals, horses, wildlife, aquatic/marine animals, zoo animals.)  Good about taking care of the animal's health. Bad about euthanizing animals. Sometimes bad about the owner's lack of care or lack of knowledge about how to care but good about educating the owner and seeing the animal's health improved.

Here are some sites. I hope they help. Good Luck.

  3. I think the cruelty specialist and vet would help the world and put a smile on ppl's faces.

I think you should do some research on the topics...ask ppl in the field about how their job benefits to them and what the down sides to their job are. It'll help you get a better idea of what they go through and will most likely help you in a decision.
