assuming a claim for carers allowance is successful, how long does it roughly take from doing a online application to the money being in the bank

If you made your claim on line it will take about 6 weeks, they will contact the person being cared for (the person with the DLA or AA) to check they are aware of the application. The claim will be backdated to the date of appliaction (or date DLA was awarded if you assked for this and it is a new award)

the other answerer is correct that is what happened when i claimed when i was looking after my mother.  the person has to be getting attenance allowance for u to qualify. they rejected mine first as my mums attendance allowance hadnt been sorted out that took 3 months. however when that was in place and i applied for the carers allowance it was backdated to the date that she was entitled to the AA.
