Carey Price earns top honours as NHL’s First Star of the Week
A stellar performance during the week of 7-13 November has earned Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price top honours as the National Hockey League’s First Star of the Week.

reports that Price earned the top spot after he posted a 3-0-0 record in his last three games, along with a goals-against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .970. He also earned one shutout in a 2-0 home victory over the visiting Vancouver Canucks
on Tuesday 9 November.
The Habs would go on to win their next few games, and are currently coming off a 7-2 rout of the Carolina Hurricanes. The Habs will face the Philadelphia Flyers in their next game on Tuesday
16 November.
The second star was centre Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Crosby scored three goals and five assists for a total of eight points in three games. During that three-game span,
the Pens won two of three games, and Crosby tallied multiple points in each game. With 12 goals and 15 assists to his name, Crosby is currently second overall in the NHL scoring race with a total of 27 points. The Penguins return to action on Monday 15 November
against the New York Rangers.
Left-winger Alex Semin of the Washington Capitals earned the third-star honours. Like Crosby, he scored eight points (4G, 4A), with the only difference being the number of games played.
Semin’s Capitals played four games, while Crosby’s Penguins played only three. The highlight of the week was Semin’s five-point effort against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday 11 November.
During the game, Semin notched a hat trick in the third period to lead the Caps to a 6-3 win over the Bolts. Semin’s 23 points (13G, 10A) puts hims fourth overall in league scoring. Washington
will host the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday 17 November.
