New Zealand’s Carey Thomassen and Samantha Thomassen proved their worth on the arena as they played superb badminton and overpowered their compatriots Chris Dickson and Cara Lee Moore in Mixed Doubles clash at the Senior Closed Doubles 2012 at Auckland,
New Zealand, on Tuesday, August 7.
Carey and Samantha, who remained impressive on court in all of the matches, worked really hard against Chris and Cara and managed to win the hard-fought battle with a tight margin on the board.
The spirited Carey and Samantha could not find a good start as they lost the first game. However, they made a strong come back in the match and took the following both sets with a decent score.
On the other hand, Chris and Cara also showed their brilliance on court as they started the opening game in a dominating fashion and took it.
But Chris and Cara failed to remain consistent in their positive play and lost the following both games and lost the battle in three sets.
The first set was quite thrilling when both sides played positive and fast badminton and remained close on score board until the break.
After the interval, Carey and Samantha failed to maintain their positive run on court and started to make errors and they lost the set with a 16-21 score on the board.
In the second game, Carey and Samantha made a strong come back when they played with aggression and easily set up a wonderful lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Carey and Samantha continued their improved play and took the second game with a huge 21-10 score on the board.
In the decider, both sides remained neck-to-neck in opening half by playing at the same speed. Until the end of first half, they were close on score board.
After the one-minute interval, Carey and Samantha showed their brilliance and managed a reasonable lead. They remained focused at the ending phase and took the set with a decent margin of 21-18.
Carey and Samantha won this Mixed Doubles battle in rubber games with a decent 16-21, 21-10 and 21-18 score on the board.
