Central Districts batsman Carl Cachopa, who has displayed fine form in the Stags’ recent Plunket Shield matches, maintained that he was uninterested in the prospect of his recent performances earning him a call-up for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 national squad, claiming
he was concentrating on putting forth his best for the Stags.
“To be honest I don't pay any attention to that sort of stuff, I'm just trying to do my best for CD, and win games for them and enjoy that,” Cachopa maintained.
The 26-year-old made his first-class debut for the Auckland Aces during January 2005, in a match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864, and has since gone on to play a total of 24 matches, with 1083 runs at an average of 32.81 to his credit.
The right-hander has displayed a sudden spike in terms of performance this year, having struck all of the 5 first-class centuries he currently has for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Central-Districts-c777 during the ongoing Plunket Shield 2012/13. A 108 against Auckland in March this year
was followed immediately with a 151 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northern-Districts-c825, all in the same month.
He then went on to smash 105 against Wellington in October, and his most recent triple-digit score was an unbeaten 179 in the Stags’ ongoing match against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 Aces at Nelson Park in Napier, which propelled his team to a solid first innings total
of 430.
The Stags’ bowlers proceeded to build on the foundation laid by Cachopa, and bowled the Aces out for 210 in their first innings. Following on, Auckland were similarly lacklustre in their second innings, and finished the third day, November 6, at 210 for
7.
Meanwhile, enjoying his time with the Stags, Cachopa commented on the excellent management structure at Central Districts, which in turn was accentuated by the superb team spirit – all of which he claimed combined to make his time with the team an enjoyable
experience.
“... our team has just got a really good attitude and all those little things, sort of make you feel good and want to play cricket and do your best,” he observed.
