Carl Christian Hem trounces Ibrahim Nyanzi in qualifying round of 2011 Yonex OCBC US Open GP Gold
Norway’s Carl Christian Hem trounced Uganda’s Ibrahim Nyanzi in the Men’s Singles qualifying round contest, at the 2011 Yonex OCBC US Open GP Gold, in USA. The match was held on Monday, July 11.
Carl made a wonderful display of his superb skills against Ibrahim, who was lacking the aggression against his spirited opponent. Carl won the opening match in an impressive fashion, by finishing the encounter in straight games of 18 minutes.
In the first set of the match, Carl played far better badminton as compared to his opponent, who was running in the court to return the perfectly executed shots of Carl. It was a completely one-sided fight where Carl showed no mercy to his rival and reached
at 11-4 in a flash.
After taking a rest for 60 seconds, Carl again was miles ahead as he dictated the pace of the game and moved his challenger in all corners of the court. Ibrahim tried to play better badminton, but he was lacking the power in his strokes which earned him
nothing against his opponent. Carl bagged the opening game with an incredible margin of 21-8, in just 10 minutes.
The second set of this Men’s Singles qualifying-round match was identical to the previous game, as Carl progressed in this set with the same speed. His movement in all areas of the court and his recovery to the base line was very impressive. Until the interval,
Carl was leading the game with a seven-point margin at 11-4.
Carl was in complete control of the pace of the game in the second-half of the set, when he extended his lead by playing aggressive badminton. His jump smashes and perfect attacking clears kept his rival moving in the rear and front court to pick the bird.
The remarkable play of Carl earned him a deserving victory, as he finished-off the set by a 21-7 score on the board, in just 8 minutes. The final score of this one-sided 18-minute contest was 21-8 and 21-7.
