Carl Crawford hits single to give Boston Sox 3-2 victory over Seattle Mariners – MLB Update

Carl Crawford magnificently broke a tie-score in the ninth inning to lead the Boston Sox to a 3-2 victory against Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park, Boston on Sunday, May 1.
Crawford hit a brilliant single to bring in Jed Lowrie at a time when the score stood at 2-2.
The Red Sox April saw some ups and downs, was looking for a revitalising start here. It could not have probably started better than a 3-2 victory at this critical time. The win came when the match was tied and it was hardly predictable as to who could come
out ahead.
Sunday’s game saw its first two innings go scoreless followed by David Ortiz’s, two-runs. It gave Boston a lead that Tim Wakefield successfully defended up until the sixth inning when not only the drought of runs ended for the Mariners, but also levelled
the score to 2-2. Jack Cust scored the first run for Seattle followed by Luis Rodriguez who took the score 2-2.
The game then saw its tense moments, as even the most confident of game pundits could not accurately predict which team would prevail. Given the record that Boston had in April or, to be more exact, throughout the season, it was never clear if they would
let Seattle win the game or score the victory themselves.
However, Crawford turned things upside down for Seattle and scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning off the fastball of Jamey Wright. The hit led to a 3-2 win for Boston Sox that would not have been possible without Crawford.
“After seeing it go through the middle, it was like a big weight off my shoulder," said Crawford, who entered the game hitting .155. "It's been a while since I felt this good. It's been tough on me; I can't sit here and act like it hasn't been. But you try
to minimize that and keep positive thoughts in your head."
"We want to look at this and see where we're standing," Francona said. "Put everyone in the best position possible." He was, however, pleased with the performance of Crawford
It will be interesting to see how the Boston Red Sox can carry their winning momentum into their next game. The Seattle Mariners put in a good performance but it just was not enough to secure a victory for them.
