Carl Edwards pleased with best qualification run for Hollywood Casino 400 – NASCAR news
Carl Edwards was pleased with his qualification effort after he finished 2nd in qualifying at the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway on Friday, October 7, 2011.
Edwards is currently leading the chase alongside Kevin Harvick and will be looking to build on his qualification run in the race.
Edwards finished 2nd only to his own teammate Greg Biffle, who beat Edwards’ time by 0.056 seconds to take the pole for the race. Edwards qualified in 7th place in the race here earlier in the ongoing 2011 season.
“This is the best I've ever qualified here, so I'm not going to be frustrated about it,” Edwards said. “I'm proud of our qualifying effort and pretty excited to have an all-Ford front row. That's pretty neat. There's a lot of pride for that in our shop.”
However, Edwards was aware that a good qualifying effort does not guarantee success in the race and that it was being fast in the race which mattered in the end. He said that it was a long race and once the race starts, one does not even remember what place
he qualified in.
Edwards finished 5th in the previous race at Kansas and was looking at the experience that they had gained from their trips to the track. He said that the sport has become so competitive that things keep changing with new parts
and new strategies coming every time they visited a track.
Edwards was not surprised that there had been seven different winners in the seven mile-and-a-half tracks in the season so far. He felt that with the level of competition increasing in the sport, the races could be won by just about anyone these days.
“These races can be won by anyone. Well, not by anyone, but there is a larger group of people that could be winners in these races than I have seen in my short career here. I think that is where the different winners come from,” he said.
Edwards will be hoping that anyone is him this time around in Kansas. The race starts on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 2pm Eastern Time.
