Carl Frampton makes Kris Hughes bleed, retains Commonwealth super bantamweight gold – Boxing news
In one of the most devastating bouts the young and blasting Carl Frampton, world’s number 62 super bantamweight, emphatically knocked and literally smashed Kris Hughes, world’s number 159 super bantamweight, to retain his newly acquired Commonwealth super
bantamweight title.
The bout, held at York Hall arena situated in Bethnal Green, London, United Kingdom, was an epic clash between two young and promising prospects who had just one thing in their resilient minds, annihilate the opponent and move up in the rankings.
Carl Frampton, 24, hails from Ireland and has in his veins the strong explosive Irish blood that always makes the Belfast’s capable of fighting brutally and mercilessly.
Carl, infamous as The Jackal overcame Kris, the Badger, in a very authoritative and commanding way while extending his winning streak.
Carl the Brick Fists, had been in a total 11 bouts and came in the ring against Kris not only with his title on the line but his winning streak as well. Kris on the other hand had the experience of 16 bouts. Carl, since his career punched off, has never
lost a single bout Kris on the other lost only one bout and secured 15 wins.
Kris seriously lagged in one aspect; interestingly the same particular facet makes Carl a lethal weapon. Hughes knockout percentage is extremely low. He depends heavily on his resilience and does not try to take his opponent out by knockout.
It is this reason why he has, in 15 wins, collected just one by kayoing his opponent.
This aspect gave the Irish warrior a huge upper hand over Kris. Carl on the other hand tries to put an end to the clash in an instant and swift way while cleanly blanking his opponent. Carl had collected 7 of his 11 wins by knockout.
The bout, held on Saturday January 28, 2012, started and as it was accepted the Jackal bit the Badger intensely so much so that the latter started to bleed in just the sixth round and lost his senses eventually in the seventh.
Frampton has improved his resume to 12 wins in 12 bouts whereas Kris, after collecting a bloody defeat, has 15 wins and two losses in 17 bouts in his record. Carl is now expected to take on in near future either Scott Quigg or Kiko Martinez.
