Carl Froch aims to be among the legends – Boxing News
IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch is aiming to be among the legends of boxing, by facing the most elite fighters in the division. Froch, who is scheduled to defend his title against Yusaf Mack at the Capital FM Arena on November 17, Saturday, believes
it is time for him to go the extra mile to fulfil his ambitions.
Froch is a family man but he asserts nothing can get in his way to achieve what he wants. However, Froch does insist that his family means a lot to him, but boxing is his profession and he will not let the two be mixed up.
“Boxing for me is a job and the fact I have got Rocco (His son) does not change anything,” said Froch. “I never worry about getting injured in the ring because I do the weight so well, I have Rob McCracken in my corner and boxing is a safe sport.”
Once through Yusaf, Froch will then face former champion Lucian Bute in March. Froch grabbed the title from Bute earlier this year, by destroying the unbeaten Canadian fighter in just five rounds. The fight took place in Nottingham. As predicted, Bute was
unable to defend his glory outside his hometown. He fell to Froch, making the latter a three-time world champion.
“Any injuries are usually superficial,” Froch added when asked about injuries that can ruin his life. According to Froch, boxing is a dangerous sport and there can be times when fighters face life-threatening injuries. However, the Briton champion is unafraid
of the dangers of the sport. He is sure-footed and he knows what to achieve.
“I am not concerned with keeping fighting and not concerned I have a young boy to look after,” he added.
For now, Froch is hoping to cement his legacy as one of the best fighters in the business. He is 35 now and there are chances that he might be in the mix if he defeats the likes of Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward, two of the best in the division.
For now, Froch is aiming to defeat Yusaf later this month, believing that a win would open doors of opportunities for him.
