Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham have final presser in Helsinki
Just before their Showtime sponsored clash, former WBC super middleweight titlist Carl “The Cobra” Froch and Arthur “The King” Abraham have held their final press conference.
The two met in front of media on Wednesday 24 November in Helsinki, Finland, to promote Saturday's title fight. Abraham and Froch will be squaring off for the WBC super middleweight crown, which was vacated
by Mikkel Kessler following his withdrawal from the Super Six tournament.
Both Froch and Abraham were reportedly subdued at the conference, preferring humility and steadfast focus to boast and bravado. Froch, however, impressed by greeting the media in Finnish and then in English.
Abraham said, “The first couple of days here have been nice. I'm in a good mood, a comfortable mood. This is a bit cold for me since my coach has had me training in 110 degree temperatures. It is good for the
body. I'm well prepared for Saturday night.’’
Addressing concerns about a size difference between him and Froch, which Froch himself has said will make a difference in the fight, Abraham responded, “Inside the ring all that matters is to be mentally stable.
It doesn't matter (about being) bigger or stronger, just clever. The clever fighter always wins.”
Abraham's promoter, Wilfried Sauerland, confirmed that he was extremely excited about the upcoming fight.
“I've been promoting boxing for more than 30 years and I can't remember the last time I was this excited,” Sauerland exclaimed. “I don't like to make predictions, but I'm very confident Arthur will win the
belt Saturday night. From what I heard from his trainers he is in the shape of his life and may even have a few surprises that will test how versatile Froch is.’’
For his part, “The Cobra” said, “It's great to be here in Finland. I go into every fight to win. If that means throwing bombs and breaking ribs then, yeah, I'll do everything I can to win my belt back.”
