Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham meet for weigh-in
Super Six tournament rivals Arthur “The King” Abraham and Carl “The Cobra” Froch met for the last time at their official weigh-in before their bout Saturday 27 November.
The two will be fighting for the WBC super middleweight championship, vacated by contender Mikkel Kessler following his withdrawal from the tournament due to an eye injury. The fight will take place at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland.
At the weigh-in Froch weighed 167.1 pounds, while Abraham just made weight at 168 pounds. The two were solemn and focused, with each man showing a degree of respect for the other, with each hoping to execute the better game plan.
Froch is coming off a disappointing loss to Kessler in his last Super Six bout. He lost the WBC title with which he entered the tournament. “The Cobra” will look to regain the belt against Abraham.
Abraham, similarly, lost via disqualification in his last contest with the smooth-fighting Andre Dirrell. Abraham pummeled Dirrell in the eleventh round after he slipped on the canvas, immediately drawing the bout to a close after Dirrell apparently had
a seizure and was subsequently withdrawn from the tournament.
Abraham will be looking to win his second world title in as many divisions.
In their press conference, Froch outlined his strategy, saying, “It's great to be here in Finland. I go into every fight to win. If that means throwing bombs and breaking ribs then, yeah, I'll do everything I can to win my belt back.
“I come into the fight with self-belief and confidence. I plan to come into the ring and win this belt back. I don't think it should have ever been taken away in the first place. I predict I'm going to win by any means necessary on Saturday night."
