Carl Froch beats Lucian Bute to grab the super middleweight title for the third time – Boxing News
Carl Froch finally succeeded in getting his glory back by grabbing Lucian Bute’s super middleweight title at the Capital FM Arena past Saturday night. The event, that took place in Nottingham, had Froch completely dismantling Bute. Despite all the claims
Bute had made, it seemed like he gave in to the pressure way too early.
Bute, who stepped in the ring as an unbeaten champion, started staggering right after the first round. Round two had Bute wobbling while Froch had the control. The first round was a balanced one with both the fighters giving in their best. Third round was
completely dominated by Froch. By round four, Bute could hardly stand firm but luckily the round ended and Bute went in the fifth round. In the fifth round, Froch was aggressive and finally knocked Bute out at 1 minute and 5 seconds. It was a devastating TKO
end to the much anticipated bout.
After the bout, Froch said, “I came in more determined than ever before. I felt like a million dollars. I came here to do a job. I was so focused. I was on it tonight. A lot of people wrote me off, a lot of the boxing magazines. They're rewriting the script.
The bookies got it wrong, too.”
It should be noted here that this was Bute’s first ever title defense outside of his hometown. This was the reason why many analysts had already predicted a loss of Bute, despite him being the favourite. Froch was the underdog yet he was successful, which
was pretty surprising.
At the end of the match, Froch’s promoters and his corner men came in rushing to celebrate with the young Briton. The fans smashed their claps and Froch was as happy as ever.
The devastating defeat was not easy for Bute to take. He was already deemed as a fighter who could not go head to head with another outside his hometown, and Froch just proved it. Bute, who did all this to gain the respect he thought he deserved, might finally
be disappointed with himself.
