Carl Froch believes his fans will make him win – Boxing News
Carl Froch will be heading towards a mega-bout against the current IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute. The match is scheduled to be held on May 26 at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham. This will be Lucian Bute’s first ever match away from his hometown.
On the other hand, Carl Froch will have hometown advantage and he is counting on his fans to give him the boost he will need to beat Bute.
In his recent interview regarding the match, Froch said, “I have to beat Lucian on May 26 – losing in front of my own fans is just something I cannot contemplate. They have travelled thousands of miles to watch me during the Super Six, and now they have
a massive world title fight on their doorstep as a thank you – but it has to be a party and the only way it will be is if I keep the title here. There’s nothing like the Capital FM Arena when it is full. I was there on Monday night when it was empty and cold,
and I just thought that in two weeks time this will be packed and the roof is going to come off.”
He further said that he is aware of the fact that Lucian Bute has great support in Montreal but it is not as good as he has it. He added that the people in Montreal are quiet and they analyse the fight to know which fighter is better.
Froch was being considered among the top Britain young fighters but after his defeat last year, his career has gone down the rail. Froch is now hoping to give a boost to his career by making the most out of this fight. The Brit boxer is currently training
hard for his encounter with Lucian Bute. On the other hand, Bute is an aggressive yet technical fighter with the only drawback of not having enough fans to support him. Bute was being criticised for not being able to fight away from home, which is the main
reason why he accepted Froch’s challenge to fight at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham.
