Carl Froch claims he has never been in better shape before – Boxing news
The reigning World Boxing Council Super Middleweight champion, Carl Froch, has revealed he is in the best shape of his life ahead of his much-anticipated bout with the current World Boxing Association
Super World Super Middleweight Champion, Andre Ward.
Froch, who has won 28 of his 29 professional fights, with 20 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media he has never been in such wonderful shape before in his boxing career. Though he
admitted age is going to get him one day, he said at the present situation he is feeling much younger and has no plans of walking away from the sport.
"At 34, I feel 20," Froch told the
Daily Mail. "Never been in better shape. I feel like I could carry on forever. I know one day my body will tell me it's time to quit. But not for a while yet."
The 34-year-old Nottingham’s Cobra, Froch, and the undefeated American star, Ward, will lock horns in a much-anticipated ‘Winner takes all’ final of the Super Six World Boxing Classic on December 17, at
the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Froch insisted he wasn’t supported by Britons even upon winning a world title. Therefore he is happy to have the fight in the States, as he thinks people in the US are very supportive.
"I wasn't backed by Britain even after I won the world title. That fight [with Jean Pascal] was on ITV but even then British TV never really got behind me. But now I've had a couple of big fights in the
US, the TV people over there are so supportive."
Froch and Ward were previously set for October 29 but there fight was moved on after Ward, who carries a perfect record of winning all of his 24 professional fight, including 13 of them by knockout, disclosed
he has sustained a cut during a sparring session.
However, both fighters are ready now for their mega showdown and all eyes are set to see whether if Froch will really be able to break Wards unbeaten record or not.
