Carl Froch desperate to beat Andre Ward and wants to be on the pound-for-pound list – Boxing news
The two-time and reigning World Boxing Council’s Super Middleweight champion, Carl Froch, is desperate to step in the ring against the current World Boxing Association’s World Super Middleweight champion, Andre Ward, as he wants his name to be on the pound-for-pound
list.
The Cobra, Carl Froch, will take on the unbeaten American prospect, Andre Ward, in the Super Six World Boxing Classic Final on October 29, 2011 in the Atlantic City.
Froch, who has won 28 of his 29 professional fights, with 20 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, knows this is one of the biggest fight of the year, as it will have the WBA and WBC titles, the Ring Magazine title and the number one spot in the division
all on the line. Moreover, the winner of this fight will get his name locked for the pound-for-pound list.
Therefore, the 34-year-old from Nottingham, Froch, is fully charged up. He told the media he can take his name along with his country’s name on the pound-for-pound list which is great.
Froch then claimed he will put his best ever performance against Ward, as he does not want to ruin the opportunity. The Brit also vowed he will surprise Ward as he is going into the fight with a completely different approach.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “They've said the winner is a lock for the pound for pound lists and rightly so. This is the hottest division in boxing and if I come through Ward then me and Great Britain will be right up there on that pound for
pound list. You couldn't pick a better fight to watch myself in action abroad.”
Froch added, “I feel completely recharged now and ready for the task in hand. We know what approach we need for the Ward fight and I’m completely confident of our tactics to enable us to bring home the belts.”
Let’s see if Froch can really see off Andre Ward on October 29 as Ward has never been defeated in the ring as of yet.
