Carl Froch excited ahead of his Super Six final with Andre Ward – Boxing news
The Nottingham’s Cobra, Carl Froch, who is a two-time and reigning World Boxing Council Super Middleweight champion, is geared up ahead of his mega showdown with the undefeated American superstar, Andre Ward.
Froch and Ward, who currently holds the World Boxing Association Super World Super Middleweight Championship belt, will meet in their eagerly awaited ‘Winner takes all’ final of the Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament on December 17, 2011 at the Boardwalk
Hall, Atlantic City in New Jersey, United States and Froch insisted he is looking forward to the fight.
Froch stated, “It's not shocked me that it's dragged on so long. It's a shame the fight was put back a few weeks but it is all pretty much on schedule and I'm looking forward now to fighting for the unified title, the WBC and WBA world titles, in the final
of the biggest tournament in world boxing.”
Froch and Ward were both previously set to meet on October 29 but their fight was moved to December 17 after Ward sustained a deep cut that required seven stitches above his eye during a sparring session.
However, Froch, who is a winner of 28 of his 29 professional fights, with 20 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is not sure whether if Ward’s delay is indicative of any weakness.
“It possibly says something about his mindset - but not too much,” said the Nottingham man. “He had a bad cut, he needed seven stitches so he felt he wasn't going to be ready because he couldn't spar in the build-up to the fight. So fair enough, everybody's
different.”
The 27-year-old American pugilist, Andre Ward, has never been defeated in the ring thus far and he holds a perfect record of winning all of his 24 professional fights, with 13 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout.
Moreover, he is rated among the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. Therefore, Froch-Ward fight is one of the most eagerly awaited bouts of his this year. Let’s see if Froch break Ward’s unbeaten record.
