Carl Froch focuses on defeating Glen Johnson in the Super-six – Boxing news
World Boxing Championship super middleweight champion Carl Froch is focused on defeating Glen Johnson in his Super-six semi-final match, which is going to take place in Atlantic City next Saturday.
Froch told the media he is pretty confident against Johnson. He said his plans have always been to hit and not get hit. He remarked Johnson does not have enough speed.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I don’t want to talk too much tactics but the plan is always to hit and not get hit. The one thing about Glen Johnson is I don’t think I’ll have to go looking for him. I don’t think he’s going to be on his back
foot looking to jab and pick me off. He doesn’t have the speed or skill to match me. So he’s going to come straight ahead.”
The 33-year-old, Froch, who has won 27 fights with 20 knockouts, feels he dominated Andre Dirrell in the first stage of the Super-six. Moreover, he also thinks he made an easy workout of Arthur Abraham.
He said, “I’ve had three fights but i made easy work of two of them. I made easy work of Andre Dirrell. I’ve done more damage shaving myself than what Andre Dirrell did. And Against Arthur Abraham I made easy work of that.”
Froch, who is confident of reaching the final, also reckons he can beat the current World Boxing Association world super middleweight champion Andre Ward, who has already reached the finals.
He stated the American Ward, who won Gold at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the light heavyweight division, does not have much punching power. He added Ward might have an Olympic Gold medal but that is not a guarantee.
The Brit said he has not been too impressed with the way Ward has won his fights. Though Froch admitted that the 27-year-old Ward, who has won all of his 24 fights with 13 knockouts, is a treat and is a man to be taken seriously. He said he knows he can
beat him.
