Carl Froch happy his fight is in Finland
Carl “The Cobra” Froch has indicated he isn’t worried about facing opponent Arthur “The King” Abraham in the neutral location of Helsinki, Finland.
“I’m very happy it is on neutral ground,” Froch said in a
Nottingham Post article. "If it was in England, there would be excuses from Abraham if the fight does go to points. It's going to be freezing cold and it's going to be dark. But at the end of the day, it's in a boxing ring. Abraham's in there and
I know what to do to beat him.”
Froch and Abraham will be fighting for the WBC super middleweight championship in a Group Stage 3 match of Showtime’s Super Six boxing tournament.
Froch emphasised that beating Abraham would mean using speed, strength, and aggression in the ring. He also pointed to the fact that “The King” is a natural middleweight, meaning that he should be able to push Abraham around in the
ring and use valuable leverage to tire him out.
Abraham, a notoriously slow starter, fights with a high guard and attempts to outsmart opponents with subtle adaptation. But besides cleverness and malleability, Abraham is known for his devastating power, which could mean trouble
for Froch, known to have little to no defense, but a solid chin.
"I've got to stay focused and concentrate for the full three minutes of every round, because I switch off quite a lot. I do get drawn into a fight now and again, so if he decides to come forward and have a bit of a swing he could walk into one of my big
shots,” Froch admitted.
Both fighters will be coming off respective losses. Froch was outpointed by Mikkel Kessler in April. The loss cost him his WBC super middleweight title, which he hopes to regain by outpointing Abraham.
Both met for the last time Friday at the weigh in. Froch weighed-in at 167.1 pounds, with Abraham tipping scales at 168 pounds.
