Carl Froch hopes postponement of his bout with Andre Ward will work to his advantage – Boxing news
The Nottingham’s Cobra, Carl Froch, who is the reigning World Boxing Council Super Middleweight champion, is hoping that the postponement of his much-anticipated fight with the current World Boxing Association Super World Super Middleweight Champion, Andre
Ward, will work to his advantage.
Froch, who holds a record of winning 28 of his 29 professional fights, with 20 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media the delay to the bout has allowed him to train with Rob McCracken, who could not work with him for two weeks in October
as he went to Azerbaijan as a performance director for England’s amateur boxers.
“These days, as soon as something like this (a postponement) happens, it's all over Twitter or the internet straightaway,” Froch told The Times. “You have to block that out and wait for something official. I sparred with Tony Bellew that day and
did 12 rounds, and put it all in. It could work out to my advantage because now I get Rob for the whole camp.”
The 27-year-old undefeated American Superstar, Ward, has never been defeated in the ring as of yet. He carries a perfect record of winning all of his 24 professional fights, with 13 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout.
Moreover, Ward is also rated among the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Thus, Froch admitted Ward is a very skilled boxer and he is looking forward to this fight.
“I'm looking forward to it,” Froch said. “It's the two best fighters in the competition. I've been looking forward to it for some time.”
Froch and Ward both were scheduled to fight each other last Saturday on October 29, 2011 in their highly-anticipated ‘winner takes all’ final of the Super Six World Boxing Classic but their eagerly awaited has now been shifted to December 17, 2011 at Boardwalk
Hall in Atlantic City due to a deep cut sustained by the American while he was sparring.
All that is left to see is whether Froch really has what it takes to break Ward’s unbeaten record or not.
