Carl Froch not happy about attending pressers ahead of his bout with Andre Ward – Boxing news
The two-time and reigning World Boxing Council’s Super Middleweight champion, Carl Froch, is not happy for being called upon to attend pre-fight press conferences in United Kingdom and America, as the Cobra has revealed his training schedule is being disturbed
a lot.
The 34-year-old from Nottingham, Froch, is set to take on the current World Boxing Association’s World Super Middleweight champion, Andre Ward in the final of the ‘Winner takes all’ Super Six Classics Tournament on October 29, 2011 in Atlantic City.
This fight promises to be the defining fight of Froch’s career, who has won 28 of his 29 professional fights, with 20 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Therefore, the Brit reckons his media commitments can disrupt his performance against the man
who is considered as one of the best in his division.
Froch told the media he would have wished to continue his training session but since it is mandatory to sell the fight, he will attend the press conferences.
“I'd rather be in the gym training. This has been a hindrance on my training programme,” Froch said. “But it's all part and parcel of big-time boxing and world-class sport, so I'm used to it. I've structured my training regime around the flights.”
Andre Ward has never been defeated in the ring as he has won all of his 24 professional fights, with 13 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout and for this reason he is going to be a favourite on the fight night.
However, Froch disagrees with all the bookies. He said he is not concerned whether Ward is the favourite or not, as he sees himself in a great shape and is confident.
“The bookies have got it wrong a few times as well, but I don't mind that, I don't pay attention to any of it. I need to turn up in great shape, and then I'll do the business. Who the favourite is makes no difference to me at all,” he said.
