Carl Froch reckons David Haye is going to announce his retirement soon – Boxing news
The two-time and reigning World Boxing Council’s Super Middleweight champion, Carl Froch, has reckoned the former World Boxing Association’s world heavyweight champion David Haye is not going to fight anymore.
David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye, who lost his battle against the WBA Super, IBF, WBO Super, IBO and Ring Magazine Champion, Wladimir Klitschko, via unanimous points’ decision on July 2, 2011 at Hamburg’s Football Stadium in Germany, declared ahead of his bout
that he will not fight upon getting 31.
The Brit desperately wanted to avenge his defeat against Dr. Steelhammer, Klitschko afterwards and a lot of his fans are still in with a hope.
However Froch, who is currently set to take on Andre Ward in the ‘Winner takes all’ Super Six Classics tournament’s final, thinks the Brits are not going to see Haye in action anymore.
The 34-year-old Nottingham’s Cobra, Froch, who has won 28 of his 29 professional fights, with 20 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media he has recently spent some time with his compatriot Haye and has concluded he has no intentions to
fight anymore.
“I had a nice five-hour tour of the island with David Haye,” Froch said. “I don’t think he is going to fight on. He didn’t give me a definitive answer but listening to him, it doesn’t really sound like it.”
“He wanted to go out on a better note. Whether he will fight again, personally I don’t think he will,” Froch insisted.
In the end, the super middleweight contender, Carl Froch, shared his own plans. He stated he should be the first one to retire since he is almost 9 years older than Haye but on the same note, he remarked he has his own plans.
Froch said, “He’s younger than me so it would make sense for me to announce my retirement – but I’ve got plans.”
David Haye is certainly a very skilled boxer and is also liked by the people a lot. Let’s hope he does not retire and gets back in the ring once again.
