Carl Froch reckons he can go down as legend after winning Super Six tournament – Boxing news
World Boxing Council’s Super Middleweight champion, Carl Froch, successfully defended his title against the 42-year-old Jamaican pugilist Glen Johnson in the semi-final bout of the Super Six Classics on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Atlantic City.
Froch, who will now face the unbeaten American World Boxing Association’s World Super Middleweight champion Andre Ward later this year, now thinks he can go down as a legend, provided if he wins the Super Six Classics tournament in December.
He said if he can win the Super Six tournament he can also defend his title a couple of times and this way he is going to engrave his name among one of the best fighters of all time.
“After this tournament has finished, as long as I am successful, I can defend my title a couple of times at home. That will be legacy secured, I will go down as a legend,” he said.
The Nottingham’s 33-year-old boxer, Froch, stated he has won the world title and now it is the time for him to secure his legacy. He said he wants people to know him as a true warrior and the one who they should be proud of.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “I have won the world title and been involved in six world title fights. It is now time to get my legacy secured and that will be fantastic for me and my family. I can get myself down in the history books for
years and years to come. People will look back and say Carl Froch was a true warrior, a true boxing champion and he did England proud and brought it back to Nottingham.”
He continued by saying he is only in the sport because he wants to be the best.
Let’s see whether Froch can really see off the unbeaten prospect Andre Ward in the final or not, as Ward will never make anything easy for him.
