Carl Froch says he cannot be knocked out against Andre Ward – Boxing news
The two-time and the reigning World Boxing Council’s Super Middleweight champion, Carl Froch, has claimed he cannot be knocked out in his highly anticipated ‘Winner takes all’ final of the Super Six Classics tournament against the current World Boxing Association’s
Super World Super Middleweight Champion, Andre Ward.
The 34-year-old Nottingham’s Cobra, Froch, will take on the 27-year-old undefeated American pugilist, Andre Ward, on October 29, 2011 in a bout which will have all three WBA, WBC belts and the prestigious Ring Magazine’s titles on the line.
Froch, winner of 28 of his 29 professional fight, with 20 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, stated he has a granite chin and cannot be knocked out in the ring.
“I strongly believe if there is a knockout in the fight, it will be me knocking out Ward,” Froch told a packed press conference. “I don't feel that he has the punching power. Even if he did, I can't be stopped. I've got the granite chain, I'm a beast. Laugh,
if you will but it's true. I can't be knocked out.”
Ward has never been defeated as of yet and holds a record of winning all of his 24 professional fights, with 13 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Therefore, Froch admits he is going to be up against a very skilled boxer but on the same note the
Brit remarked he has a job to do.
“There's no real beef or needle between us. There are high stakes. I'm here to defend my title and take away his. Andre Ward deserves the respect of a champion. Ward is a great fighter and great champion. But I have a job to do,” Froch added.
The Froch-Ward bout certainly has all the hallmarks of being an absolute classic. However all that is left to see is whether Froch can really become the first man to defeat Ward or not.
