Carl Froch snaps back at Arthur Abraham
British boxer Carl Froch has responded to German sensation Arthur Abraham.
In response to Abraham doubting a back injury that forced Froch to delay their upcoming October 2 bout and question his mental health, Froch said: “If anyone has problems in the head, it’s Abraham.”
Abraham said yesterday he doubts the injury is genuine because he has little verifiable information about it.  He speculated Froch wished to suspend the fight due to his loss to Mikkel Kessler in April.
Abraham said: “What's the problem with him? No one really knows. I want this fight to be re-scheduled as soon as possible. We can't afford to lose time. A boxing career is too short, and I want to fight
every three months.  It is very tough waiting. Right now, the battle between is all mental, because we are evenly matched.”
He continued:"It's all mental with him [Froch]. I think his one and only defeat to Mikkel Kessler is still in the head of Carl Froch. He cannot let go.”
In response to the comments Froch fired back it was Abraham who had psychological issues and that the proof was in his last fight against Andre Dirrell.  Abraham was disqualified for hitting Dirrell after
slipped on the canvas.
“You only have to look at his last fight against Andre Dirrell,” Froch said.  “He was out-boxed, couldn't handle it and got himself disqualified.”
Two dates have been given for the bout in the future: November 27 and December 18.  The fight, a semi-final eliminator in Showtime’s Super Six boxing tournament, was originally supposed to take place in
Monte Carlo, Monaco, but is now shaping up to be in Helsinki, Finland.
Froch is coming off a second round unanimous decision loss to Kessler, who was recently forced to pull out of the tournament due to a mounting eye injury.  Kessler, who won the WBC super middleweight title
in defeating Froch, has since vacated his title.  It will be given to the winner of the Andre Dirrell-Andre Ward bout, the winner of which will take on either Froch or Abraham in the tournament final.
