Carl Froch tries diplomacy with Amir Khan
Carl Froch is trying to stomp out a fire between him and WBA junior welterweight titleist Amir Khan.
For the past few months the two have been portrayed as friendly rivals by the media, insulting each other and cautioning against their respective reputations.
Froch, however, has gone on the record and indicated many of his words were manipulated and torn out of context.
"It's quite annoying because I've been picked up on by certain websites recently and have had my words twisted,” Froch told Sun Sport.
"What I've said has been manipulated to make it look like I've got a problem with Khan, which has promoted a response from him to say I'm jealous. But I've got nothing against him and I'm not jealous at all. I only wish him all the best and hope he continues
to be successful in his career,” Froch said.
Froch has his hands full as he prepares for a November 27 clash with Arthur “The King” Abraham. The bout will be for the vacant WBC super middleweight title, and determine the next stage of Showtime’s Super Six boxing tournament.
Khan will be touching gloves with mandatory challenger Marcos Maidana on December 11 in Las Vegas. The fight will be shown on HBO and looks to make an indisputable star out of either opponent.
Khan, under the guidance of legendary trainer Freddie Roach, will be looking to outclass his opponent with footwork and skills. Maidana is expected to go for the knock-out.
Froch weighed in on the upcoming bout, saying: “Khan's got to be careful because Maidana is a big puncher, but he's got all the skills to box rings round him.”
The clash between Froch and Abraham is expected to be a heavy-hitting, exciting brawl, as both fighters like to slug it out and cut no corners in the ring.
