Carl Froch vows a complete shutout win over Glen Johnson – Boxing news
The reigning World Boxing Council’s Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch has vowed that he will complete a shutout win over the 42-year-old former world light heavyweight champion Glen Johnson this Saturday.
Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch and Glen ‘The Road Warrior’ Johnson will take on each other this Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the semi-final bout of the World Super Six Classics in Atlantic City. The winner of Froch-Johnson will then face the World Boxing Association’s
World Super Middleweight champion, Andre Ward, in the final in December 2011 at the Madison Square Garden.
The 33-year-old Englishman Froch has claimed the Jamaican pugilist will not only lose the fight but he will also lose all of the rounds.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “He's not only not going to win the fight, he's not even going to win a round. I'm too young and fresh for him. From round one, I will dominate.”
However, the most flattering statement which came up from the Nottingham’s orthodox Froch was when he remarked he is not worried about Johnson but he has his eyes set on Andre Ward, as he wants to be the pound-for-pound ranking world champion.
Froch, who has won 27 of his 28 fights with 20 knockouts, reckons if he beats Andre Ward, number nine pound-for-pound fighter in the final, he will probably stand next to Manny Pacquiao as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
“Not only would I have won the WBA and WBC super-middleweight titles, I would be probably pound-for-pound ranking world champion,” he told a British sports channel. “That's what this is going to do for me. That's the incentive. Johnson on Saturday night
- I'll be honest, I'm not worried about him.”
Let’s see whether Froch can really see off Johnson, who has won 51 of his 67 fights with 35 knockouts in the semi-final and then Ward, who has won all of his 24 fights with 13 knockouts in the final.
