Former West Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Carl-Llewellyn-Hooper-c49231, is extremely impressed with the bunch of young talent at the Sagicor High Performance Centre (HPC), where he has been shouldering his responsibilities as a batting consultant.
The Windies are currently languishing at the seventh position in the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) Test rankings and Hooper believed that the past World Champions still have the potential to regain their lost glory.
Hooper, who was recently appointed as the batting coach at the centre, described that he was amazed to see the amount of young talent at the HPC, associated with University of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in Barbados.
Expressing his delight over being a part of West Indies’ cricket development programme, Hooper said, "From what I have seen here and what is being channelled into the development of West Indies cricket, I am http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arthur-Percival-Day-c45927 to be part of this development. Getting
young cricketers involved and helping them in every way is certainly going in the right direction.”
The former all-rounder further shared that with the hugely talented batch of young cricketers, the Caribbean side can once again claim its supremacy in World cricket.
The 44-year-old former cricketer has served his country in 102 Test and 227 One-day internationals (ODIs).  Hooper, who joined HPC a couple of weeks ago, stated that there are some brilliant cricketers at the centre who can serve national side in the years
to come. Meanwhile, he lauded West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for starting an academy as it will help youngsters to improve their skills.
"Having an academy is a great thing for West Indies cricket. The good thing about it is that you have your best young players assembled together and they get to work together as a team.” the former West Indian captain added.
After a tough competition with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in a five-match ODI series, starting from June 6, 2011.
Hooper explained that the West Indian side has decent chances in the One-Day series since the Indian team is coming without many of their senior players.
