Carl Mason eyes another win at the Benahavis Senior Masters
Carl Mason is eying another win at the Benahavis Senior Masters at the La Quinta Golf and Country Club, scheduled to start from Thursday, May 31, 2012.
Mason earned a victory in the inaugural event in 2009, followed by a second-place finish in the 2010 edition of the tournament.
La Quinta again witnessed him take the trophy home in 2011 and confident to defend the title successfully this year.
“Hopefully it will give my season a bit of a boost now, going back to a place where I have done so well and a place where I just have good feelings every time I’m there,” he said. “I like the place a lot. You get to stay on site in a beautiful hotel and
the staff and the people there are really friendly, so I always enjoy myself. I always have good vibes about La Quinta”.
The tournament schedule has been changed and will be played quite earlier this year compared to the last three editions.
“Obviously it has come around a lot quicker this time with the change of date, so hopefully that will be to my advantage,” said the Senior Tour’s record title holder.
Mason is now hoping to kickstart his 10th Senior Tour season with a victory in the event, as he has not been able to win any event since the 2011 Benahavis Senior Masters.
Two weeks ago, he failed to make a good start in the 2012 Senior Tour as he took the 27th spot in the curtain-raiser Mallorca Open Senior.
Thereafter, he admitted that his putting was not good enough to earn him even a top-10 finish in the event.
Therefore, he needs to work a little harder on his putting in order to display a better game in the upcoming events.
After reaching the site of the Benahavis Senior Masters, he told that he was getting better, as he did a little practice in a two-week off period.
Moreover, he also said that he remained out of the course for a very long time, which was one of the reasons for his poor performance at Mallorca.
