Carl Mickelson snared Men’s 200m breaststroke gold: Day four – 2012 Arizona Invitational
Carl H Mickelson of Arizona-AZ snared gold medal of the Men’s 200m breaststroke on last day of the 2012 Arizona Invitational in Mesa, Arizona on Monday, May 28.
The 21-year-old Mickelson impressed the aquatic crowd with his dazzling form in the 200m event as he occupied the podium for gold medal.
His gruelling effort placed his significantly ahead of his opponents throughout the discipline and emerged on the finishing blockade for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.18 seconds.
The champion was followed by Kevin W Cordes of Arizona-AZ, who stayed 1.22 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.40 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was chased by his teammate, Kevin A Munsch, who stayed nearly four seconds apart and submitted an effort of 2 minutes and 21.79 seconds for third position.
Munsch remained 4.50 seconds faster from his subsequent rival, Zac S Hojnacki, who settled on the finishing blockade as fourth fastest swimmer of the discipline by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 26.29 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the discipline was obtained by Bart J Steninger of FORD-AZ, who tried hard to improve his position but remained marginally slower from his forgoing finisher. The 26-year-old Steninger stayed nearly 0.50 seconds apart and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 26.73 seconds.
Following that, the audience experienced exhausting efforts of Kevin T Steel of Arizona-AZ, who stayed nearly three body lengths apart and settled on the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 29.82 seconds.
Steel was chased by Randy R Sandoval of LOBO-NM, who remained considerably slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 39.92 seconds for seventh position.
The crowd admired remarkable efforts of all contestants in the 200m discipline whereas the position holders were called upon the medal rostrum for awards and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship. Furthermore, the tournament concluded after the completion of all scheduled events in Men and Women’s category.
